How Family Law Works in Bundaberg

Navigating family law doesn’t have to feel uncertain. We guide you through each stage with a steady, structured approach based on your unique circumstances.

Think of the below 5-step process as a roadmap to resolution. We will stand by your side as you navigate this pathway.

  • Step 1: Seek legal advice as early as practicable. Your first consultation allows us to understand your situation and provide initial guidance on options. It is important to get early legal advice as it can be vital to preserving assets following separation, or assist in providing prompt legal assistance in time-critical matters. We offer a free 30-minute consultation either in-person, video conference or telephone call.
  • Step 2: Following your initial consultation, we will develop a strategy that aligns with your priorities, interests and legal principles, and explain what to expect moving forward. We will continue to provide you with updated advice as your matter and circumstances evolve.
  • Step 3: Exchange disclosure of relevant documents and information to create a foundation for meaningful negotiation in both parenting and property matters.
  • Step 4: Formalise agreement through parenting plans, consent orders or financial agreements, depending on your matter and arrangements.
  • Step 5: In many cases, family law matters are resolved without court involvement through negotiation and dispute resolution. Court proceedings should be used as a last resort after negotiation and/or dispute resolution has been explored. If you do commence proceedings, we will represent you in those proceedings before the Court.
