About Crispian Carlowe

Crispian Carlowe is an Accredited Specialist in Family Law. Crispian has practiced exclusively in family law including domestic violence since 2008. He is passionate about education and holds:-

  • Specialist Accreditation (Family Law), Queensland Law Society;
  • Masters of Law in Family Law, College of Law;
  • Bachelor of Laws, Griffith University;
  • Bachelor of Environmental Planning (Urban and Regional Planning), Griffith University;
  • Masters of Law (LLM) (Dispute Resolution) to be conferred November 2023 
    and
  • Trained in collaborative law.

Crispian has worked as an Adjunct Lecturer in the specialist post graduate Master of Applied Law (Family Law) program since October 2020.

He authored the College of Law’s Family Law practice papers (October 2021) on:

  • Parenting Applications;
  • Property Applications; and
  • Maintenance and Child Support.

Crispian also revised the College of Law’s Family Law practice papers (October 2021) on:

  • Divorce; and
  • Urgent and Interim Applications.

Crispian’s experience has extended to providing advice and achieving results for people both domestically and internationally, from all different financial circumstances and from a diversity of economic, social and cultural backgrounds in property settlements, parenting disputes, domestic violence and maintenance issues.

He understands the impact of separation on parties and their children and the importance of clients receiving common sense advice and guidance at this difficult time. Clients can rely on Crispian to be easily available to them and responsive. They can also rely on him to support them during times of concern, anxiety and stress.

Crispian also understands that the matters that arise as a consequence of a breakdown in a marital or de facto relationship are both complex and serious.

Family Law is an increasingly complex and difficult area of law and each case is unique and turns on its own facts. Crispian is knowledgeable in legal issues, has the ability to apply the law to the client’s circumstances and resolve matters using a combination of legal, negotiating, mediating and interpersonal skills.

Crispian’s approach promotes resolution of disputes without the need for litigation. Where litigation is unavoidable, Crispian has extensive experience of the litigation process. Crispian appears as solicitor advocate and/or as instructing solicitor with Counsel. He also acts as advocate for his clients in conferences and mediations.

Crispian has managed multi-disciplinary teams and engages and liaises with appropriate expert witnesses and Counsel to achieve the best possible outcome for his clients.

Crispian takes a great deal of pride in his work, he is highly motivated with a strong work ethic and strives to achieve the best possible result for clients.

Crispian is passionate about community service. He has been a volunteer at Caxton Legal Centre since 2008 until 2016 and has been a volunteer at LGBTI Legal Service since its inception in 2014 until 2017.

Crispian is a member of the:-

  • Family Law Practitioners Association of Qld; and
  • Graduate Fellow of the College of Law.
